| but
don't worry, not in the sense of the actual song. i'm not (currently) a
walking open wound. and i do believe that i am getting better. i only
mean it in the literal sense that i have an irrefutable array of
impressive bruises on account of the impromptu snowboarding trip this
weekend.
highlights of the trip:
- snow
- jenny's snowboard running away from her down the mountain into
the oncoming blizzard of zero visibility (only mostly this is a very
sad "highlight" due to the fact that she had to pay for it and will
only get her money back if it is found
)
- 3 am card games and water fights
- cramming two people in the passenger seat and four in the back
for a slightly cramped, slightly lengthy trip from the mountain house
to beech
- the mountain house
- seeing "tristan & isolde"
- being the last to leave olive garden and savoring the delectable black tie mousse cake
- falling, being unable to stop or turn, getting pushed over by the
unbearable wind, falling, sliding, getting back up, falling, and
everything else that is otherwise known as snowboarding
- doing laundry with hand soap
- learning chess
so, it turned out to be a very exciting and eventful long weekend. it's
a little depressing to think that this was our last break until spring
break. but it's all good because i actually like my classes this
semester. with the exception of calculus. meh.
in other news, the fifth season of 24 has officially begun and who is
else is pumped? because i know i am. however, it was most unfortunate
that i missed the two-hour premiere on sunday. i was very unhappy about
that, but i was able to catch the next two hours last night. it's gonna
be a good season, i think.

| so, i'm a little bored:
1. Sleep with or without clothes on? with, except maybe sometimes in the summer when it's really, really hot and my fan just isn't doing the trick 2. Prefer black or blue pens? actually, i prefer pencil, but if i had to choose one or the other on the ink issue, i'd have to say black. closer to pencil, i guess. 3. Dress up on Halloween?: whenever i actually plan to in advance. actually, i think the last time that i did was sophomore year when anna, ashlan, and i were oompa loompas. 4. Like to travel? i love to travel. i wish i had the oppotunity to travel more. 5. Like someone? um...not really worth calling it that, i don't think 6. Do they know?: i don't think so, as it's hardly even fit to fall into the category of "like." sad, really. 7. Who sleeps with you every night? just my pillows. 8. Think you're attractive? well, i guess i could be truthful and come across as conceited, or lie and come across as humble with a dash of low self-esteem. jk. i guess attractive enough that i don't repulse people in general. 9. Want to get married? absolutely. that's what the vast majority of my future plans rests upon. 10. To?: that mystery man that God has picked out for me, whom i have yet to meet (hopefully ) 11. Are you a good student? yes, but i tend to size up a class at the beginning and decide what degree of slacker i can pull off. 12. Are you currently happy?: yes, very. 13. Have you ever cheated? nope, not that i can recall. 14. Birthplace? Anderson SC 15. Christmas or Halloween?: Christmas because you get to see family, you get three weeks off of school, you get presents, and it's just an all-around better holiday. plus, Christmas music! 16. Colored or black-and-white photo?: hmm...i like colored ones better, they're better for scrapbooking, but black-and-white are very classy and look really good too. 17. Do long distance relationships work? can't really say from first-hand experience, but i think that they can work. 18. Do you believe in astrology?: nope, but astronomy is pretty cool. 20. Do you believe in love at first sight? i believe in attraction at first sight, but love is so much more than that. 21. Do you consider yourself the life of the party? depends on who's at the party. 22. Do you drink?: only if water counts. mmm, i love water. especially with fresh lemons. 23. Do you make fun of people? only in playful jest. i know better than to take it too far. 24. Do you think dreams eventually come true? like dreams that you have when you're sleeping? if that's the case, then, i hope not. i've had some pretty outrageous dreams. crazy stuff. 25. Favorite fictional character: Scout Finch 26. Go to the movies or rent? go to the movies if i'm with a group of friends, but otherwise i'll just watch a movie i already have. 27. Have you ever moved? to France when i was two, back to south carolina when i was four, lived in that house until i was 15, then moved to apartments while this house was being built, then moved out here to woodruff. 28. Have you ever stolen anything? only if you consider downloading music "stealing." 29. How's the weather right now?: well, it's nighttime right now, but it's really nice out, not very cold considering the fact that it's december. 30. Hug or kiss? mmm. kisses are reserved for super-special people. so i like those better. but hugs are great too, just not as good as kisses. 31. Last person you talked to on the phone? Kristin 32. Last time you showered? this morning 33. Loud or Soft Music? depends on what i'm in the mood for. i've been into really mellow, soft music lately, but i definitely listen to good, hard, loud stuff on occasion. 34. McDonalds or Burger King? actually, i'm not really a fan of either. but mcdonalds is really convenient and sometimes i get those uncontrollable cravings for a double cheeseburger with a side of future heart attack. 35. Night or day? day, even though i can be a night owl every now and then. 36. Number of Pillows? two. one to sleep on and one to hug. plus, i need two to be propped up on while reading prior to sleeping. 37. Piano or guitar? piano of course. because i can actually pretend to play that. actually, i only know one song--unchained melody. beautiful song . but i kinda tried learning guitar, but i'm pretty bad at it. and i'm not terribly motivated to become better. 38. Future job?: well, i really want to be a stay-at-home mom. but i might have something along the lines of nutritionist or something to fall back on. 39. Current job? working as a receptionist at the salon every now and then, but no job once i go back to school in january. 40. Current love?: dark chocolate. and harry potter. 41. Current longing?: to hang out with my friends and eat yummy yummy food! 42. Current disappointment? i think my stomach thing is coming back and that makes me most unhappy. (reason why: refer to # 45) 43. Current annoyance? um... that i can't think of something to put here? 44. Last thing you ate? ghiradelli dark chocolate square 45. Last thing you bought?: chocolate ice cream with fudge, peanut butter, and reese's at spill the beans 46. Most recent thing you are looking forward to? having friends over tonight for new years! 47. What are you hearing right now? nothing actually. i can hear my parents talking in the other room every now and then. and also, the sound of myself typing. and the ding of IMs. 48. Plans for this weekend? have kristin, anna, ariel, and anyone-else-who-ends-up-coming over for new years tonight, wake up bright and early and go to church tomorrow, eat sunday lunch with the fam, and probably hang out with annie and katey tomorrow afternoon. 49. What did you do today? i slept in (how glorious), got up, got ready, cleaned the whole basement, had ashlan over, watched mtv movie awards simply to see rachel mcadams and ryan gosling recreate the kiss from the notebook that won them the award of "best kiss," try to check off a few things from "2001 things to do before you die," cleaned some more after ashlan left, and that's about it. 50. Pick a lyric, any lyric.?: I'm on fire and now i think i'm ready to bust a move.
:edit:
i got a gift certificate to http://www.neighborhoodies.com and i really don't know what to get on my hoodie. suggestions welcome. | | |
| hey, it's been 489 (wow, that's a big number) days since i've joined xanga, as xanga has informed me.
last
thursday, we (ashlan, anna, kristin, and i) took jenny out for her
birthday. we took a little jaunt into anderson and ate at the delicious
and adorable brick city grille. AND i treated jenny (and myself) to a
massive brownie complete with an entire melted hershey's bar on top.
that was delectable. (as was the first!) but, the trip back
was where the adventure really was. really.
what happened was, i thought
the light was closer than it really was. so, i gunned it for the
yellow. well, the closer i got, the further away the line for the
intersection got. next thing i know, i'm running a red light.
amidst the incredulous shouts of congratulations and amazement, i hear
ashlan exclaim how "fearless" that was, and that the light was indeed
quite red before i even got to the intersection. needless to say, my
hands were shaking, and i was amazed at the fact that i neither died
nor got pulled over. >phew<
in other news, i am finished
with classes and have only these alleged exams to "worry" about. i hope
that they're not too bad. calculus and chemistry are promising to be
quite difficult (and by "difficult" i mean "impossible"). i think i
might start studying for it now. maybe.
then after that... IT'S CHRISTMAS!!!! and i shall be so very excited. i can't wait. truly.
also, i just saw narnia. i highly recommend this fantastic movie to anyone. i thought it was quite wonderful.
and that's all for now.

| so, last thursday was a fantastic day. this is what i did:
-left clemson with ashlan and spencer
-went to greenville to go back to southside to see "sherlock holmes" the school play starring (well, sort of starring) my love, garrison aka mordred
-went to krispy kreme with spencer to try to knock out a dozen hot'n'now (we both lost)
-went to the midnight showing of HARRY POTTER AND THE GOBLET OF FIRE. it was quassibly the best so far.
-came back and slept through my 8:00 class on friday.
i also learned this cool new game that starts with "never have i ever..." but i'm pretty sure i lost that one.
then friday, i went to my psychology class for 25 minutes and took a test. then i had to choose between staying at clemson with my friends for the weekend, going home and seeing the g'ville friends and watching the game at my house with the party that my family was having, or going to columbia to visit beth and have the possibility of a chance of watching the game there. i finally chose columbia. that turned out to be a pretty big hassle. BUT it was well worth it because i was able to go to the game and see my TIGERS kick some gamecock tail. it was great. and i was in the USC student section, too.
then i came back on sunday, and spencer and i baked cookies from scratch and then we were everyone's best friends. and everyone hung out in me and jenny's room. it was great fun.
then i had class on monday and tuesday and that was mostly pretty dull. and now i'm home for thanksgiving break! hoorah! and i went out bowling with annie and katey and douglas last night and there were like a lkjskfasdklfja-illion people there! in addition to the aforementioned people, brian, mason, justin, jacob, dave, jeffrey, aaron, caleb, heather, charlotte, aly, amber, dustin, callie, SAYRAH, jay, molly, monica, and jon cowen were all there. and also jeffrey, chris snow, jackie, and MING! i was so happy to see them as well. it was a great and fantastic time, and we all left reeking of cigarette smoke. mmmm.
then annie, katey, doug and i went to doug's house to meet aly and amber to play some games and eat ice cream, and, on the way there, ann, kate, and i made sure that douglas drove VERY cautiosly. i think, perhaps, we scared some people. we had so much fun playing taboo and pit. it was hilarious.
and today i had a fantasticly wonderful thanksgiving dinner avec ma familia. truly heart-warming. and we talked over old memories and such. and now they're watching napoleon dynamite without me, so i best run.
oh, and the plan for tomorrow: 5 am shopping!

| thank you, will proctor, for
winning our game yesterday. charlie, you have officially been phased
out in this naive, freshman mind of mine, a mind with a considerable lack of football
knowledge. i like games when we win. i should be very happy if/when we win next week, and we MUST win against USC.
in other news, i had a calculus test wednesday night which brought a
sudden onslaught of unhappiness. i was most dull and unpleasant to be
around, i'm sure. then, to brighten my week, i had a chemistry test on
thursday morning. that one wasn't quite as bad as i, in all my
pessimism, had thought it would be.
jenny would like to add, "The ocean in view! O! The joy!" found on the newest edition of the US nickels.
also, we rearranged our room. my bed is now lofted, and we have a
little nook under there, complete with a globe lamp, two black disc
chairs, and a coffee table of sorts. it's quite cozy, and great for
watching tv or reading.
